May we introduce - Deutsche Welle
The service of “Deutsche Welle” aims to provide information on political, cultural, and academic life in Germany, as well as contextualising the German position on important international questions.
- DW is broadcasting worldwide in more than 30 languages, with relay stations in Kigali/Rwanda, Sines/Portugal, on Malta, Sri Lanka and Antigua/Caribbean
- DW TV is being transmitted worldwide on a daily basis via satellite from Berlin
- DW is also providing audio-material in ten languages created by the DW Radio transcription-service to about 800 broadcasters overseas.
- Television transcriptions are provided via TransTel to about 200 broadcasting stations in the 'third world'. Acting on the behalf of the Ministry for Economic Collaboration and Development, the DW training centre trains radio broadcasters from developing countries, studio and transmission techniques
- DW is also involved in implementing development-aid projects in the media (on behalf of the German Society for Technical Collaboration (Gesellschaft für technische Zusammenarbeit - GTZ) and the Ministry for Economic Collaboration and Development)
Therefore Comden - in collaboration with the Office of German Industry and Commerce - supplied 22 broadcasting stations in Nigeria and Niger with the necessary satellite equipment to broadcast Deutsche Welle and other services of their choice.
